Chlorine & Chemical Removal
Chlorine
in water can cause it to taste foul and emit an odour. It is found in mains
water in England and Wales and acts as a disinfectant, much like the chlorine
used in public swimming pools in larger amounts. The quantity used in mains
tap water is perfectly safe, although for some people with sensitive smell
and taste, it can be quite off-putting to drink. Many people use a chlorine
filter to remove the chemical from their water to make it more palatable.
Chlorine removal is also quite desirable for people who have an allergy
to it or do not like bathing or showering in it.
Under sink water filtration kits are available to remove chlorine found in water for a more pleasant drinking experience. This method of removal, which can also remove other chemicals, is usually the most economical and convenient method. Under sink filtration kits are available for self installation and provide a third tap on the sink top dedicated for filling glasses, bottles, kettles and saucepans with chlorine free, chemical free water.
On a slightly larger scale, whole of house systems can be plumbed in at the water's entry point to the premises. This results in a totally chlorine and chemical free water supply for the building, which means all drinking water, bath water and shower water is free of contaminants.
