Solutions
Blue/green/turquoise staining of sinks/baths/basins/showers
This is caused by water with a low pH (agressive water). The staining is caused by copper being slowly removed from inside of the pipework and deposited onto the surface of the sanitary ware.
Eventually the pipe-work and imersion heater tank will develope small pin hole leaks, initially un-noticable, but gradualy enlarging until water damage to property occures.
This is a problem quickly corrected by installing a pH correction unit in the system. This comprises of a vessel (sized for your system) filled with a self regulating pH correction media. We do not use a lime based medium as this product can be inconsistant in operation. Instead we use a calcium carbonate based granual that is not self ragulating in use and will not lift the pH above 7.0.
Brown/orange staining of sinks/baths/basins/showers/clothes
This staining is caused by iron (Fe) (for orange staining) or manganese (Mn) (for dark brown staining) or possibly a combination of both.
Both of these elements can be removed with our ever popular EFM filter unit. This is a self cleaning filter sized for your water flow and contamination level. Once installed it requires no user input, only an annual service to keep it working efficiantly. Some iron/manganese filters on the market require salt as a regeneration media. This will entail you keeping a large quantity of salt in stock to replenish the system (and remebering to regularly top up the system).
Contact us for further details on our EFM filter units.
If you have a bacteria problem in your water supply or are just looking for a safeguard on your water then an Ultra Violet unit is what you will require. These use ulta violet light to destroy the bacteria as they pass through the chamber. There is no effect on water taste as found in using a chemical based sterliser system. Once installed into your water system they only require an annual service to keep them in tip top running order.
Grit or other particulates clogging washing machine inlets
This is a problem mainly found on properties with their own water supply as opposed to mains water. It can easily be solved with a sediment filtration unit fitted to the water supply pipe, the elements are renewable and it takes only a couple of minutes to change them when contaminated.
Chemical taste or smell in mains water
This can be a problem if you are put off drinking or cooking with mains water, but are using a jug filter or considering buying one. If you install one of our under sink filter kits you can have smell free fresh water straight from the filtered water tap (supplied in the kit). No need to remember to fill the filter jug or change the element every 6 weeks or so. An under sink water filtration kit can be supplied for self fitting (see products page).
How do I install my under sink water filtration system?
Our easy to follow instructions on installing your under sink water filtration system are available in PDF format here. If you have problems opening the file, you will most likely need to download and install the FREE Adobe Reader, available from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/
