Water softener

Hard water causes a build up of limescaleIf you live in an area which suffers from hard water, you will be familiar with the typical symptoms of limescale (calcium and magnesium minerals), such as a build up of deposits in your kettle, dingy looking & coarse feeling clothing and filming over your washing up. In addition to these problems that you will see everyday, hidden inside your water pipes the deposits build up to cause clogging and therefore over time a decrease in water flow.

We supply water softeners - for household use self fit kits are available.

Water described as hard is essentially water that is high in dissolved minerals, specifically calcium and magnesium. The South of England, UK is one area susceptible to hard water due to the underlying chalky soil. Over the years rain water seeps through the mineral rich ground picking up and dissolving particles as it goes. When the water is extracted from the water table it is naturally rich in these elements.

In order to reduce the affects of hard water on your house-hold items, a water softener is one solution. A plumbed in water softener replaces the calcium and magnesium in the water with sodium. This prevents limescale from forming, increases your heating efficiency (by no longer causing the build up of deposits in pipes) and puts an end to dull looking hair, clothes & household items washed with water.
